Mayor Venezia explained the concept of the proposed Ordinance, as well as the importance and significance it would have upon people working within the Township. The Mayor went on to state that if the Ordinance was adopted, the Township would be the 9th municipality in the State to enact such legislation. The item was approved for the adoption of the appropriate Ordinance.

Mayor Venezia called for comments from the public.

Analilia Mejia, Executive Director of the NJ Working Families Alliance, with offices at 30 Clinton Street, Newark, New Jersey, thanked the Mayor and Council for adopting the Sick Leave Pay Ordinance, and gave a very brief overview of how her organization became involved with the legislation.

A resident took the microphone to thank the Mayor and Council for adopting the legislation, expressing that the issue is a quality of life issue for most residents.

Neal Gorfinkle, 170 Leslie Street, Bloomfield, New Jersey, took the microphone to express his support for the legislation, and to thank the Mayor and Council for their efforts.

A representative of the Rutgers Center for Woman & Work (Ms. Blumenthal) took the opportunity to commend the Mayor and Council for the adoption of Sick Paid Leave legislation as it will have a positive impact on the citizens of the Township and offered assistance in implementing the legislation.

Councilman Joanow briefly commented that the Mayor and Council had moved forward progressively to make the Township an elite community.

Mayor Venezia stated that the passing of this Ordinance would make for a better community.

There being no further comments from the public or Council, Mayor Venezia asked the Municipal Clerk to call the Roll. Vote showed the following:
